Potential Vice-Presidential Nominee: Serious Moral Evil

Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius name has been mentioned as a potential running mate with Senator Obama. And why not? As a governor she would bring executive experience to the ticket that Obama lacks. She will help win over the female base of the party that is feeling somewhat rejected at the way Hillary was treated. And more importantly she passes the most crucial Democratic litmus test, she is 100% pro-abortion.

Ms. Sebelius position is considered extreme by many in her own State and around the country; but is right in line with Senator Obama’s position. One such critic of Ms. Sebelius aggressive stance on abortion is Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, whose Roman Catholic archdiocese covers the northeast area of Kansas. Archbishop Naumann called for Ms. Sebelius to stop taking Communion due to her stance on abortion:

Potential Democratic Vice President: Serious Moral Evil

Archbishop Naumann called Gov. Sebelius out on her veto of a bill, which was passed overwhelmingly by both houses of the Kansas Legislature, which would strengthen the state's ban on late-term abortions by authorizing private lawsuits against providers. That followed by a year her veto of a bill requiring explicit medical reasons for a late abortion, which was preceded by vetoing other abortion legislation in 2006, 2005 and 2003.

Believe it or not there are pro-life members of the Democratic Party. But their opinion is never considered, and to some, these pro-life party members are looked upon with distain.

The Democratic Party claims to be the party of tolerance, but are they truly open enough to listen to members of their own party that stand against abortion? Was Archbishop Naumann actions appropriate?
