In a stunning display at a protest over the Ground Zero mosque, a Holocaust survivor was berated by a mosque supporter. The mosque supporter spews vulgarities at the holocaust survivor and at one point even says he "didn't learn his lesson". Content warning, we did not bleep out the profanities.

"We the people" are the familiar opening words of the Constitution of the United States-- the framework for a self-governing people, free from the arbitrary edicts of rulers. It was the blueprint for America, and the success of America made that blueprint something that other nations sought to follow.

At the time when it was written, however, the Constitution was a radical departure from the autocratic governments of the 18th century. Since it was something so new and different, the reasons for the Constitution's provisions were spelled out in "The Federalist," a book written by three of the writers of the Constitution, as a sort of instruction guide to a new product.

The Constitution was not only a challenge to the despotic governments of its time, it has been a continuing challenge-- to this day-- to all those who think that ordinary people should be ruled by their betters, whether an elite of blood, or of books or of whatever else gives people a puffed-up sense of importance.

While the kings of old have faded into the mists of history, the principle of the divine rights of kings to impose whatever they wish on the masses lives on today in the rampaging presumptions of those who consider themselves anointed to impose their notions on others.

The Constitution of the United States is the biggest single obstacle to the carrying out of such rampaging presumptions, so it is not surprising that those with such presumptions have led the way in denigrating, undermining and evading the Constitution.

While various political leaders have, over the centuries, done things that violated either the spirit or the letter of the Constitution, few dared to openly say that the Constitution was wrong and that what they wanted was right.

It was the Progressives of a hundred years ago who began saying that the Constitution needed to be subordinated to whatever they chose to call "the needs of the times." Nor were they content to say that the Constitution needed more Amendments, for that would have meant that the much disdained masses would have something to say about whether, or what kind, of Amendments were needed.

The agenda then, as now, has been for our betters to decide among themselves which Constitutional safeguards against arbitrary government power should be disregarded, in the name of meeting "the needs of the times"-- as they choose to define those needs.

The first open attack on the Constitution by a President of the United States was made by our only president with a Ph.D., Woodrow Wilson. Virtually all the arguments as to why judges should not take the Constitution as meaning what its words plainly say, but "interpret" it to mean whatever it ought to mean, in order to meet "the needs of the times," were made by Woodrow Wilson.

It is no coincidence that those who imagine themselves so much wiser and nobler than the rest of us should be in the forefront of those who seek to erode Constitutional restrictions on the arbitrary powers of government. How can our betters impose their superior wisdom and virtue on us, when the Constitution gets in the way at every turn, with all its provisions to safeguard a system based on a self-governing people?

To get their way, the elites must erode or dismantle the Constitution, bit by bit, in one way or another. What that means is that they must dismantle America. This has been going on piecemeal over the years but now we have an administration in Washington that circumvents the Constitution wholesale, with its laws passed so fast that the public cannot know what is in them, its appointment of "czars" wielding greater power than Cabinet members, without having to be exposed to pubic scrutiny by going through the confirmation process prescribed by the Constitution for Cabinet members.

Now there is leaked news of plans to change the immigration laws by administrative fiat, rather than Congressional legislation, presumably because Congress might be unduly influenced by those pesky voters-- with their Constitutional rights-- who have shown clearly that they do not want amnesty and open borders, despite however much our betters do. If the Obama administration gets away with this, and can add a few million illegals to the voting rolls in time for the 2012 elections, that can mean reelection, and with it a continuing and accelerating dismantling of America.

It is not the Party’s Fault; It’s the “Isms”

This is in response to a Letter to the Editor blaming Republicans for all America’s economic woes throughout our history:

I could not help but response to David B. Munsey revisionist history of the role Republicans played in the economy. But in order to fairly represent the true nature of the discussion, the dialogue should really focus on the difference between the “ism” that controlled the debate at the time of the economic up or down. Was it progressivism or conservatism that was the overall guiding principles? By worrying less about the party affiliation, and focusing more on the reining “ism,” you start see an obvious trend.

First, Mr. Munsey ignores the Great Depression of 1920. That’s right 1920, not 1931. The WORSE economic crash to occur in modern record keeping was the crash under progressive Woodrow Wilson (D). Wilson applied a high tax rate (upwards of 70%) and massive deficit spending (spending outpaced tax revenues X 3). The fastest recovery out of a major economic downturn occurred under the great “forgotten” President, conservative Calvin Coolidge (R). President Coolidge reduced the tax rate to 25% and cut spending by a whopping 50%! It is the combination of a fair tax percentage and STRICT spending controls that resulted in higher tax revenues and unprecedented employment (98.1 % employment). Under Coolidge’s conservative leadership we saw the largest increase of the middle class in history.

The next economic downturn, 1929, which contrary to misconception, was not the start of the “Great Depression.” However, the downturn of 1929 was the result of the progressive policies of President Herbert Hoover (the “forgotten progressive”) (R). Hoover ignored the lessons of the Wilson administration and abandoned the conservative principals established by Coolidge. Hoover initially maintained the lower tax rate, but increased spending to record deficit levels (much like we saw under Bush 43). Also under Hoover, we started to see the heavy hand of government being applied to business. Lo and behold, the economic collapsed, eventually leading to the depression of 1929.

I noticed that Mr. Munsey ignored the next two great dips in our economy, 1931 (the Great Depression) and 1938, probable for good reason; they would not play very well into his argument of Democrat (good) versus Republican (bad). The Great Depression was the direct result of heavy taxation, deficit spending, confusing government control, and lastly, Hoover and the Congress trying to “spend” their way into prosperity (sound familiar?). Policies that would be continued under FDR.

1938, America saw another major economic downturn with high unemployment (19% ), out of control spending , a punishing tax code (67%), the heavy hand of government entanglements within the market, and continued attempts by the US government to spend their way into prosperity. In fact FDR’s attempt to “control” the economic resulted in the comment made by FDR’s Secretary of Treasury, "We've tried spending money. We are spending more money than we have ever spent before, and it does not work."

I could go on, but why bother. When our government is guided by progressive policies, economic downturn will follow. Whenever the government is guided by conservative principals, true economic prosperity follows. Mr. Munsey is simply reciting from the playbook of the “new progressives,” which currently exist in both major Parties.

40% of all Americans identify themselves as Conservatives, and for good reason. They understand that both deficit spending and a punishing tax code are immoral. They also understand that government should function the same way a responsible household does; with a balance check book and by not stealing from your neighbors to make up for a lack of fiscal responsibility. It is progressive policies that have failed us, and both the Democrats and Republicans are guilty.

Obama To Chrysler: I Will Make Them An Offer They Can’t Refuse

What would happen if one branch of the government tries to interfere in an area that is the province of another branch? In a normal world the interfering branch is slapped back; but this is not a normal world, this is Obamaland.

The interview below features attorney Tom Lauria detailing how the Executive Branch of the United States government is serving as the negotiator, arbitrator, and judge, in the dismantling of Chrysler. This is clearly a violation of the separation of powers, and a dishonest attempt by the Obama administration to reward those that supported him.

The Obama administration has gone so far as to change the “pecking order” on who will be receiving money that is owed to them, and how much these companies will receive. It appears that the Obama administration has determined that entities (such as the unions) that had a lower financial commitment within Chrysler have been moved to the top of the monetary heap, receiving a higher percentage than companies who had been keeping Chrysler afloat before the government stepped in.

In an interview of momentous importance, WJR’s Frank Beckmann interviews Tom Lauria, the Head of Restructuring at top five law firm White & Case, in which the lawyer, who represents Chrysler hold-out hedge funds Stairway Capital and Oppenheimer Funds, discusses on the record the amazing treatment by the White House of Perella Weinberg, which initially had been a transaction hold out but after threats by the White House (not my words) was forced to drop their objection and go with the administration. Says Lauria:

“One of my clients was directly threatened by the White House and in essence compelled to withdraw its opposition to the deal under threat that the full force of the White House press corps would destroy its reputation if it continued to fight…That was Perella Weinberg.”

…The full interview with Tom Lauria below is a must hear for everyone as it discloses not only the administration’s strong arming tactics in black and white, but also discloses some other critical facts that the president on his regular TV appearances has failed to mention such as:

- First lien holders were willing to accept a 50% discount on their positions, however the 71% demanded by the administration was seen as too much.
- The cash going to Junior claims (creditors below the first liens) will be between $10 and $20 billion, a number which in practice should satisfy a par recovery for the 1st liens if the Absolute Priority Rule was actually withheld.
- Among the creditors are not just vulturous hedge funds but “pensioners, teachers, credit unions, college endowments, retirement plans, and personal retirement accounts.”

In conclusion, Lauria summarizes the developing Chrysler mess best:

“The President is trying to abrogate contractual rights; if he will attack that contractual right, what right will he not attack?”

Is this just another example of the corruptible nature of "pork" spending? Why do we allow public funds to go towards the vanity of those that should be serving the interest of the people? Should we pass a law that does not permit the naming of any project receiving federal funds after any senator, congressperson, cabinet member, etc? Should we reserve the naming of these projects for those that gave their lives in the services of their country?

Happy Earth Day: Eat A Cow, Save The Environment

Every year a remnant of the hippie movement, Earth Day, is celebrated across the world. Earth Day is as antiquated as the word hippie, and just as stupid. The only thing I am thankful about this year is the fact that Earth Day 2009 occurs during school vacation; which means my son’s school will not have the opportunity to parade the kids out of the classroom and turn them into Little Green Warriors, wunder-kids for a dogma that got its start promoting zero-population growth, and serves now to indoctrinate a new generation in a fallacy.

I remember the first Earth Day, and fortunately, I had older teachers who didn’t drop acid, listen to Vanilla Fudge, or felt the need to “fight the power.” No, as the first Earth Day approached, we did radical things like studying math, history (real history, not the revisionist history my son has to poke holes in everyday), and science (I mean real science, not the propaganda surrounding Earth Day celebrations). Those were the days!

For those of you that are shouting – “You don’t you care about the environment!” I do care about the environment, but I will not succumb to a false canon that is pushing bogus solutions to phony issues. The real “flat Earthers” are those that have moved from one fad cause to the next fad cause. The common theme in all of these causes is “its mankind’s fault!” I am not saying that we have always been good stewards of our planet, but we do not solve problems by laying false blame, based on false science, with the belief that “the ends justify the means.” When a cause lacks integrity, it only sidetracks attention from the real issues, which deflects where the real focus should be, and diverts needed resources (people, money, ideas) in the wrong direction.

The current green movement’s roots are planted in the soil of the zero-growth movement (the true focus of the first Earth Day) of the 60’s, then moved to the “next Ice Age” faction of the 70’s, to the Ozone Hole gang of the 80’s, to the Global Warming interest group of the 90’s, to its current incarnation as Climate Change soldiers. Their momentum loses steam once people start to take a hard look at the “evidence.” But that doesn’t bother them, they just “rebrand” the cause and move their army with them.

Forget the fact that time and time again members of Congress have directed divisive language against conservative groups. Forget that more witnesses than I can count have appeared (with the full support from Left leaning legislators) and made wild accusations. Yes, for this one brief moment let’s forget the double-standard the Left lives by.

The father, Ray Tranchant, whose daughter was killed in a “traffic accident” because of a drunk illegal alien, appeared before a congressional committee to tell his story. After his testimony, Mr. Tranchant was lectured by Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-Illinois):

Liberals Lie: I’m Shocked!

For those that have read my blog in the past, and for those that are new to it, you know that I have very little tolerance for the dishonesty displayed by many on the Left. There are two things that I have learned when dealing with Liberal lies:

1. It is important for conservatives to not only known the historical truth, but to know the truth as liberals see it. Many liberals believe what they believe because they are just repeating fallacies that have been offered to them. Nothing shuts a liberal up faster than the FACTS. Facts are to liberals as garlic is to vampires.

2. Never, ever let a liberal get away with a false statement. I do not care where you are, and who it is, letting Liberals get away with a false statement is like letting your puppy poop on the rug. If you don’t correct them, they will continue to defecate all over the place! Now I am not saying that you have to get into a heated exchange. It could be as simply as saying “that’s not true,” and point the misguided individual to the truth. Or better yet, challenge the person to “explain” their statement, example:

SLS (Stupid Liberal Statement): “If we had more regulations, we wouldn’t be in this financial mess! This is all President Bush’s fault.”

ICR (Intelligent Conservative Reply): “Really, what are the regulations now, and what regulations would you proposed that would have stopped this?” Were you aware that President Bush and now ex-Senator Sununu recommended changes that would have prevented much of what we are dealing with now? Have you ever heard of defeated Senate Bill S.190? No, maybe you should do your homework before you hurt yourself. Push for details.

You know you have won when the Liberal says one of the following: “bigot, fascist (or Nazi), neocon (which most Liberals are unable to provide a proper definition for), Bush lover (or fill in the conservative of choice),” or my all time favorite – “I really don’t want to get in an argument (liberal translation: I have no idea what I am talking about).”

Democrats count on the fact that liberals, like parrots, will just repeat what they are told. Liberals also believe that if enough people repeat the lie, then eventually it BECOMES the truth….AMAZING! Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying all liberals lie; some actual believe what they are saying. I am also not saying liberals are stupid, but as Ronald Reagan once said (about liberals) – “They know so much that just isn’t so.”

I haven’t written much on the “stimulus package,” in large part because there is not much I can say that already hasn’t been said, and partly because I am just thoroughly disgusted with the actions of our representatives.

Sen. Nelson (D-Nebraska) stood on the floor of the Senate late Friday night (February 6) and declared: "We trimmed the fat, fried the bacon and milked the sacred cows." Nelson proclaimed that the 100 billion dollars that was trimmed “was a savings to the America people.” A savings, really? Mind you the 100 billion dollars (and more) has been returned to the package as of this writing (February 7). How can Nelson justify calling it a “savings,” when we are looking at a 1 trillion dollar, pork-filled package that is an insult to the American taxpayer?

1 trillion dollars??!!?? How much money is that really? You could spend 1 millions dollars a day from the day Jesus was born, and still have billions dollars left over! This is madness! This bill is filled with so much pork, we should pour some barbecue sauce on it, breakout the sweet tea, and enjoy the feast! It might be easier for the American people to swallow.

For those of us who know our socialist history, we are well acquainted with the “philosophies” of Sal Alinsky. But for those of you who are not as familiar with Mr. Alinsky, or think he was just another vaudevillian comedian, you will find Phyllis Schlafly’s recent article enlightening:

But Sal Alinsky’s book, “Rules for Radicals,” has also become the field manual for the Democratic Party. There is nothing “radical” about Alinsky’s ideas; they are nothing more than the continuation of the “beliefs "of Lenin, Marx, Hitler, and Mussolini to name just “a few.” One only needs to see the results of each of these individuals’ actions to fully “appreciate” the damage that “community organizing” can cause in the hands of radicals.

Amazing how quickly the rally cries from the Left of “Change We Can Believe In,” have been replaced with “Let their heads roll!” Like the Left-leaning mobs of the French Revolution, the “Obamamanics” have gathered their pitchforks and are preparing to storm the “Capital.”

The hate and unjustified angry from the Left will never go away. The election of Barrack Obama has only served to embolden many Liberals in their belief that they can now act out their delusional agenda, and in the process put America through an unnecessary “act of redemption.“ Too many on the Left actually believe the lies they have been spewing about the current administration, they are prepared to tear this country apart for their own selfish motives.

In what is shaping up to be the 21st Century equivalent to the Salem Witch-hunt’s, the Left wants the head of President Bush on a platter, along with many of his senior advisors. Their hysterical dissent is being fueled by partisan legislators such as Senator Russ Feingold, D-Wisconsin.

Nadler Introduces Resolution Opposing Possible Bush Pardons of His Own Subordinates for Crimes He Authorized

Here's a resolution, hot off the presses from Jerrold Nadler, Chair of the Constitution Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee: H.RES.1531, "Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the President of the United States should not issue pardons to senior members of his administration during the final 90 days of his term of office," Sponsor: Rep Nadler, Jerrold [NY-8] (introduced 11/20/2008). There is a petition promoting this resolution, through which you can write to your representative and senators at http://democrats.com/nadler-pardons

Senator Russ Feingold editorialized against these possible pardons at Salon.com yesterday; please urge him to introduce in the Senate the same resolution that Nadler has in the House.

Never before has a president pardoned himself or his subordinates for crimes he authorized. The idea that the pardon power constitutionally includes such pardons ignores a thousand year tradition in which no man can sit in judgment of himself, and the fact that James Madison and George Mason argued that the reason we needed the impeachment power was that a president might some day try to pardon someone for a crime that he himself was involved in. The problem is not preemptive pardons of people not yet tried and convicted. The problem is not blanket pardons of unnamed masses of people. Both of those types of pardons have been issued in the past and have their appropriate place. The problem is the complete elimination of any semblance of the rule of law by pardoning one's own subordinates for crimes you instructed them to commit.

Yes, of course, there's something absurd about knowing that a president authorized crimes, not impeaching him, not prosecuting him, not proposing any action with any teeth at all, but formally objecting to the idea of him issuing pardons of his own subordinates for crimes he authorized. But this is where we are. State, local, civil, foreign, and international prosecutions are likely ways of holding Bush, Cheney, and gang accountable, and pardons can't interfere with them. Pardons can't interfere with impeachment. But if we allow these pardons, we not only guarantee no federal prosecutions, and not only give Congress an excuse to drop its investigations, but we also establish the precedent that from here on out any president can violate any law and then pardon the crime. This is simply to end the idea of law. We cannot allow that.

We need to work with Congressman Nadler and Senator Feingold to promote awareness of what is wrong with self-pardons. In this way we can prepare the American public for the appropriate response when the pardons come. The appropriate response will be to demand:

1. Immediate impeachment of Bush and Cheney, even if they are out of office.

2. Overturning of the pardons, as Bush's lawyers told him he could do to Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich, which was a far more minor abuse of the pardon power.

3. Legislation banning self-pardons and pardons of crimes authorized by the president.

4. A Constitutional Amendment banning self-pardons and pardons of crimes authorized by the president.

5. Prosecution of Bush, Cheney, and their subordinates for their crimes.

We have lived with Bush for two terms and he has bankrupted our Treasury, killed and maimed our own soldiers, along with destroying Iraq and killing women and children. He has destroyed our image throughout the world, caused rifts between both parties, lied to the American people — that led us into war in both Iraq and Afghanistan — tortured and held prisoners at Gitmo against the Geneva Convention and our Constitution.

Outed a CIA agent and has led our country into a deep recession and God knows another Depression. All of this and more while he basked in luxury at the White House playing president and now wants to pardon all those involved or connected with torturing — including himself. If I walk across the street on a green light I can be arrested for jaywalking, and he can just walk away from all the harm he has done to everyone in the United States. I say, "no way — impeach him!"

Many on the Left, like Glynn, are nothing more than self-loafing sycophants who are determined to rip this country apart in their belief that their actions are serving to unify us. Sadly all that I can say to those on the Left who are committed to this course of action is “They Have Eyes, But They Cannot See.”

8th Grader Exposes Liberal Intolerance

Catherine Vogt, 14, seems like your typical 8th grader attending Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School, located in the suburbs of Oak Park, Illinois. That is until you read about the experiment she conducted just prior to the election.

Since a majority of Ms. Vogt’s classmates was supporting Obama, Ms. Vogt wanted to experience firsthand the political tolerance and diversity that she believed existed at her school:

Ms. Vogt witnessed for herself the effects of mob influence. Ironically, what Ms. Vogt learned was, to Liberals, tolerance is generally reserved for people that agree with you. Ms. Vogt experiment demonstrated that not only do most kids lack the maturity to actively participate in politics, but also their parents lack the discipline to implant a healthy, non-partisan civic equilibrium.

It is important that we instill a sense of civic responsibility in our children, which requires teachers and parents to present a balance, political picture. Most kids are too easily influenced by the media and environmentally influences (teachers, parents, combine with wanting to fit in) to be taken seriously, which is a shame. In the end, America will be the worst for wear if we allow our children to be indoctrinated solely through the prism of liberal piety.

It Is “The People” That Rule America

William Kristol, wrote an excellent OP-ED piece, which unfortunately appeared in the Gray Lady, which spells out how the intellect of the "common man," is much more often than not, right:

Let's tally the score regarding whether the people or the "elites" have been more right:

Who was right about the true nature of the Soviet Union before its collapse? The People or The Elites. 1 Point Awarded to The People.

Who has been right a majority of the time that a distended government has been bad for the economic prosperity and the overall general welfare of this country? The People or The Elites. 1 Point Awarded to The People.

Who has been right on immigration? The people who believe in a balanced immigration policy or the elites who want to open up the floodgates of uncontrolled immigration? The People or The Elites. 1 Point Awarded to The People.

The list could go on, but the point that needs to be made is that the people want to take a pragmatic approach to solving issues as they arise, whether it is spending, addressing climate change, and taxes. But Elites want to "just jump in," and believe that the quick reaction, which usually equates to throwing a ton of money at every issue, is the best reaction.

In the end, we the voters must decide whose judgment can be trusted to lead this country…the everyday man or the elites, and which candidate represents those views best.

Powell Endorses Obama: Liberals Spontaneously Explode

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell announced his endorsement of Barrack Obama, which resulted in the spontaneously explosion of millions of those on the far Left.

General Powell is not a Conservative, and he hinted of his support for Obama throughout this election (Huffington Post: Novak-Powell Will Endorse Obama, New York Times: Powell Praises Obama ). I respect General Powell, but I known that he is wrong on this one. But what is more interesting is what the response by those on the Left will be. For years, Powell was reviled by those on the Left, often called a stooge, a liar, Uncle Tom, and worst of all, a traitor:

When Obama announced Colin Powell support at a rally on October 19, 2008, the audience applauded. I couldn’t help but wonder how many in the crowd were the same ones who maligned Secretary Powell when he worked for President Bush? Is the Left willing to “forgive” Powell now that he has endorsed their candidate, or admit that they were wrong? And what would those of the Left be saying about Powell had he surprised everyone and endorsed McCain?

The Liberal Super Majority

This race is far closer than the old media is reporting. Most creditable polling agencies has this race close to the margin of error. With a little more than two-weeks before the election, there is no clear victor.

But what would the world look like if the Democrats were to take the White House, Senate, and House? What would be in store for the United States if Pelosi, Reid, and Obama were allowed to rule “unchecked?” This new ruling class would be virtually unstoppable:
