Wesley Clark: Hatchet Man for Obama Campaign

I almost embarrassed to admit that General Wesley Clark and I served in the same branch of the US Military, crossing paths while I was assigned to the Protective Service Unit assigned to the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. My embarrassment stems from the inappropriate comments Clark made about Senator John McCain, a fellow Vietnam Vet, during an appearance on “Face the Nation:”

Mr. Clark has every right to question Senator McCain’s policies and Presidential plans if elected, but to call into question his honorable military service is hard to fathom. Senator McCain’s devotion to his country and commitment to duty is well established, and beyond approach. The fact that a former military commander of Mr. Clark’s esteem would stoop to such a level call into question Clark’s integrity. Clark’s statement reeks of a political hit job, it is clear he learned a lot from the Clinton’s.

Finally, Iraq Veteran and Vets for Freedom Chairman Pete Hegseth provide the perfect response to Mr. Clark’s statements:

The Black Agenda Report: Obama Is Held To No Standard

When you randomly search the Internet for news you sometimes have to tread into dangerous territory. That is how I found myself on a webpage called the Black Agent Report (BAR).

The BAR is a Progressive webpage devoted to Liberalism, but with a decidedly Black prospective.

I wandering over to BAR because the following statement struck my curiosity – “Not only is it too late to keep Obama honest, but it is also too late to keep the rest of black America honest…..”

BAR featured an article written by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley, that documented the displeasure and apprehension that many on the Left are starting to have with Obama:

" Obama has gotten away with making a 180 degree turn."

Ah, from the mouth of Liberals. As Obama tries to “re-position” himself more to the Center, he will learn that the real hatred and smear tactics will come from those that ride the donkey.

Congressman William Delahunt: Smile, al Qaeda Is Watching!

David Addington, the Chief of Staff for the Vice-President, along with John Yoo, the former Justice Department lawyer who drafted many of the legal memos defending the aggressive integration techniques, recently testified before Congress.

During the course of the hearing, liberal Congressman William Delahunt (People’s Socialist State of Massachusetts) asked Mr. Addington about water boarding. Mr. Addington responded that he would not go into details because Al Qaeda is probably watching. This did not sit too well with Congressman Delahunt.

Congressman Delahunt responded with – “"I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you." Delahunt later stated that his statement was taken out of context. But what he claims he meant was "I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you." Al Qaeda now knows the face of one of the men who relentlessly pursues its henchmen and deals with their interrogations.

Delahunt’s statements were outrageous, and a clear example of the hostility coming from many liberals. Delahunt owes Addington and apology, and the Congressional leadership should consider censuring Delahunt.

To Addington’s credit, he did manage to put the committee on notice with the following statement - "No American should think we're free, the war is over, al-Qaida is not coming and they're not interested in getting us," Addington said, "Because that's wrong." It is doubtful that liberals were listening, or care.

John McCain Criticizes Obama On Iran

Obama: The DC Gun Ban Is Constitutional…No Wait, I Meant…

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of individual rights, the Obama camp felt it necessary to “clarify” a statement made by Obama regarding the DC Ban:

Obama Camp: Inartful Statement (?)

Inartful….that is not even a word! You mean “now that the Supreme Court has upheld the 2nd Amendment, Senator Obama would like to change his mind.”

Obama is making a “push to the Center.” From agreeing with the minority regarding the child-rape, death penalty decision (Supreme Court: Child-Rape Does Not Warrant Death Sentence), with trying to “reposition” himself on the Washington Gun Ban, he is hoping to come across more moderate. But will it work?

Newsflash: The Second Amendment Upheld

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." - 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution

In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court held that the gun ban in Washington, DC violated the intent of the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution. Without overstating the obvious, this is one of the greatest victories for our individual freedoms since the Constitution was ratified in 1791.

Free Speech Under Attack In Canada

Canada and the United States share more than a border. There is a kinship and lineage that dates back to when Western Europeans were settling North America. In fact some of my relatives made their way from Scotland to Nova Scotia, and eventually to the United States. The area in which I live in now, Rochester, New Hampshire has a rich French-Canadian history. But for all of our similarities, there are times when our distinct differences are obvious. Point in case, Mark Steyn

For those that do not know Mark Steyn, he is an extraordinary author, whose honest writings are as witty as they are insightful. But more importantly Mr. Steyn is a true Conservative, and that seems to bother some people.

Mr. Steyn has found himself in a bit of “legal” problem in Canada for an article that he wrote for MacLean’s magazine (which was an extract from Mark Steyn’s brilliant book “America Alone”). Mr. Steyn is unapologetic of his observations of radical Islam, nor should he be, because every word written in the original article (as well as his other pieces) is true. But as with the United States, there are those on the Left that would prefer to silence the voices of reason instead of confronting the truth of the words. Mark Steyn is their latest target.

The Canadian Islamic Council filed a grievance with the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal. The Tribunal a three-person committee comprised of lawyers. The Canadian Islamic Council received support from Canadian Arab Federation, the Canadian Civil Liberties Associations, and the Canadian Association of Journalists. Progressive groups have used the Tribunal to try and silence all manner of free speech merely on the grounds that they disagree with it. For you see, the Left often feels that if they strongly disagree with another person’s opinion, it must be offensive, and that in itself merits censorship. But of course that same principal cannot be directed at those on the Left.

It is hard to believe that a country that would allow the release of a movie about the assassination of President Bush would have a problem with any speech. But hypocrisy is a trademark characteristic of those on the Left.

It will be interesting to see how this all turns out. The only thing at stake is the exchange of honest ideas, which doesn't seem to fit into this Politically Correct world that we have allowed ourselves to be painted into.

Good Luck Mark, and (dare I say it) God Bless!

Obama: I Will Be Attacked Because I Am Black

Last week in Jacksonville, Floridia, Senator Obama warned his “followers” to be prepared for the onslaught of attacks by the Republican smear machine. Senator Obama warned that the Republicans would even attack him for being “black.” I guess this is what Obama meant by unity in his famous speech on race:

"The choice is clear. Most of all we can choose between hope and fear. It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy. We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid. They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black? (pause for applause) He's got a feisty wife.We know the strategy because they've already shown their cards. Ultimately I think the American people recognize that old stuff hasn't moved us forward. That old stuff just divides us."

This was a despicable statement. In one fell swoop, Obama labeled "white, Republicans (or for that matter everyone who disagrees with him)" as racist, and provides a platform in which to repel every criticism of his campaign. The words used in this speech were divisive, not unifying. This is not only a classic Democratic move, to try and create a false controversy, but is a perfect example of Race Baiting 101, taken directly from the text books of Reverend’s Jackson and Sharpton. “Change” indeed!

Without a shred of evidence, and with no current story or ad to point to, ABC and CBC News warned that “attacking Obama may backfire.” The problem is that the Democrats, along with the liberal media, will be the ones that will determine what is considered an “attack on Obama.”

Story after story talks about the 527’s that will come out of the woodwork to attack Obama, as if liberals will produces ads featuring rainbows and butterflies! But with all of Obama’s noble talk, he (in partnership with the media) has completely ignored the liberal 527’s that have already started to “attack” McCain and the Republican Party. MoveOn.org (the touching “Not Alex” dribble), the endless liberal propaganda on YouTube (such as the “No, You Can’t John McCain”), the webpage “The Real John McCain (webpage’s slogan: less jobs, more wars) and “NoJohn.com (whose silly ad sounds like a bunch of spineless dork reprimanding a dog).” But none of these are deemed “negative” or “personal attacks.”

Running for public office, good or bad, is a nasty business. To believe that the Democrats are the “sole proprietors of virtue” flies in the face of history. It is important to remember that the question of race and sex was only an issue amongst DEMOCRATIC voters. Liberals deem any ad negative if it even dares to question the candidates’ positions (GASP!), but it is "anything goes" when they are the ones taking swipes at opposing candidates.

Mr. Obama, you will not be"attacked" because of your race or your funny name. You will be judge by the content of your character, not by the color of your skin. And based on this speech, your integrity is found lacking.

Wanted: Child Molesters Seeking The Best Defense

What do you get when 90% of your elected representatives are Democrat?
The answer is a State Representative like James Fagen and statements such as these:

Mr. Fagen made these outrageous remarks while defending why the State of Massachusetts SHOULD NOT pass Jessica’s Law. As it just so happens, Representative James Fagen also happens to be ….are ready….a defense attorney! Big surprise.

Mr. Fagen is just another example of why people are fleeing his State, and flooding into New Hampshire.

Boston Herald: Father Of Slain Child Outraged By Comments

Supreme Court: Child-Rape Does Not Warrant Death Sentence

The Supreme Court ruled, 5 to 4, that sentencing someone to death for raping a child is unconstitutional, assuming that the victim is not killed. The case decided by the Supreme Court, Kennedy v. Louisiana, No. 07-343, does not overturn the defendant’s conviction. Rather, it returns the case to the Louisiana courts for resentencing.

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, writing for the majority, stated - “The death penalty is not a proportional punishment for the rape of a child.”

Justice Alito wrote a dissent lamenting that the majority had ruled out executing someone for raping a child “no matter how young the child, no matter how many times the child is raped, no matter how many children the perpetrator rapes, no matter how sadistic the crime, no matter how much physical or psychological trauma is inflicted, and no matter how heinous the perpetrator’s prior criminal record may be.”

It is hard to separate the emotional from the rational when it pertains to crimes committed against children. However, Alito is right, and Kennedy's opinion does not take into account all the factors that might justify this law. In the mind of the Supreme Court, would there every be a time where applying this law might be justified? Is the Supreme Could saying that the death penalty should only be applied to crimes involving death?

Imus Vs. Pacman

The bad boy of talk-formatted radio, Don Imus, is in hot water again. This time over statements he made about troubled athlete Adam “Pacman” Jones.

Imus claims he was directing his sarcasm at the fact the police arrested Pacman Jones six separate times, inferring that the police were “picking on” Jones (not sure if I buy that one, but it is possible). I am not a fan of Don Imus, and we all know his history and tendency to say outrageous things; that is what he gets paid for. But the thing that is more outrageous was the sanctimonious statement made by Pacman:

Pacman “will pray for” Imus…perfect. Jones has led a “thug” life off of the football field. Shootings, assaults, obstruction of justice, and public intoxication are just a few things contained within Pacman’s resume. Forgetting all of the second chances he has been granted in his life, Pacman wants to see Imus punished. What a hypocrite!

And if Imus was truly expressing discontent with the police, it will serve to help vindicating him as a bigot, only to reveal him to be an idiot.

Iran to EU: Stick Your Carrots Where The Sun Don’t Shine

Representatives for Iran did not mix words while discussing the recent EU (European Union) reaction to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The EU’s expansion of additional sanctions is in response to companies, such as the Bank Melli, for providing financial backing to companies involved in procuring goods for Iran's nuclear and missile programs.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said in a statement that the "carrot and stick policy" by the EU won't stop Iran's "pursuit to realize its nuclear rights." Referring to the new sanctions as a "narrow-mindedness decision" by the EU, Hosseini was quoted as saying that "it will not help create a suitable atmosphere for a diplomatic solution" to the nuclear dispute. That sounds inviting.

Not to be outdone, fan favorite and all-around megalomaniac, President Ahmadinejad was quoted by the state IRNA news agency as saying that "a court should be formed to try and punish all world criminals who invade the rights of the Iranian nation."

The world sits by as Iran inches closer and closer to nuclear weapons. We all better pray that Israel does take action, because the EU and the United States “action of inaction” is empowering Iran to do as it pleases.

Shamu Attacks The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of the United States has agreed to take on the case of the U.S Navy Vs. Free Willy. The case will need to balance between military readiness and environmental protection.

The case involves the U.S. Navy's challenge to a judge's order that seeks to protect whales off the California coast from the high-frequency sonar used during training exercises.

Thar She Blows

I wouldn’t be surprised if the courts ruled that the whales are protect by habeas corpus. The number one priority of the federal government is to protect its citizens. Military readiness can only be achieved through training and simulations. The Supreme Court (or should I say certain members) should be very careful how they rule. The wrong decision would open up a flood gate of superfluous lawsuits directed at the US Military. Without a doubt there is someone out there just waiting to file a lawsuit because US Air Force jets fly through the nesting grounds of the African Swallow.

Sex Selective Abortions – The Feminist Atrocity

It is a subject that should make all of us cringe, and certainly make those who are pro-choice re-evaluate their position. The harsh reality is that millions of girls are being aborted every year for no other reason than they are the wrong sex.

The Lancet, the British medical journal, has been actively monitoring the birth rations around the world and has concluded that legalized abortion has resulted in a veritable Holocaust for unborn girls.

Author Colleen Carol Campbell is one of only a few US journalists who bothered to report on the Lancet’s most recent findings, St. Louis Today: Sex Selection Abortion. In her article she points out the horrible irony that the feminist movement has remained silent in the face of this atrocity:

“The abortion license touted as the key to liberating future generations of women” has instead “ become the preferred means of eradicating them (women).”

The surprising aspect to this travesty is that it is not only the pro-life organizations that are concerned about this crisis. Frontline (PBS), The Washington Times, The New York Times, to name just a few have used words such as genocide, feticide, silent shame, and yes, even holocaust to describe sex-selective abortions.

Many will read this article and say – “But Jeff, this isn’t happening in America.” As Colleen Carol Campbell pointed out that sex selection abortion is practiced by key ethnic groups living in America; and are we that naïve to believe that sex-selective abortions are not occurring outside of these ethnic groups?

Sex selection abortions is the result of the Pandora Box that was opened by the aggressive feminist movement that made abortion a central theme of their platform; the very same platform that was adopted by the Democratic Party. Many pro-choice and feminist groups are convinced that outlawing sex- selective abortion will undermine the “reproductive rights” of women, because as we known, that is what is most important. If you are truly pro-abortion all the time, no matter what, then this story should not affect you in anyway, because sex-selective abortions is the end results of your support for the massacre known as abortion.

So after reading this, how pro-choice are you really? Where does a women's right to choose conflict with societies responsibility to protect the innocent? Roe Vs. Wade and Doe Vs. Dalton opened up a floodgate of death around the world, should any of us be surprised that one of the end results would be innocent girls being killed because they are not boys? Is that the equality that the feminist movement fought for?

Obama Campaign Finance Promise: Just Words

It is easy to break a pledge when you consider the content of the promise to be nothing more than “just words,” at least if you are Barrack Obama that is.

Seeing the prize of the Presidency within his grasp, Obama has reneged on a previous guarantee, and has decided to forgo accepting public funds (which in turn would have placed spending restrictions on Obama’s campaign):

Obama Sings A Different Tune: " Money, That’s What I Want"

This of course will be diminished by Obama’s supporters, but should be a reminder to all of us of how easy it was for Barrack Obama to go back on his word when the promise no longer suited him. Politics as usual!

High School Pregnancy Pact

Gloucester High School is about to experience a baby boom, with 17 girls, none over the age 16, preparing to spend their Summer vacation in maternity bathing suits. But the reason for the pregnancies may surprise you.

School officials have learned that at least half of the pregnant girls entered into a pregnancy pact, and that some of the “fathers” were in their 20’s, including a 24 year old homeless man:

Pregnancy Pact Attracts National Coverage

Boston Herald: High-Fiving Teens

So how have some liberals, along with a complacent media, chosen to address this story. How else….by demanding more funds for birth control and sex education:

Boston Globe "Forgot" To Mention The Pact

Notice that Kathy McCabe, the Boston Globe reporter, made noooooooooo mention of the pregnancy pact…covenant.

The reality is society has created a generation of callous, spoiled, idiots, which is so clearly demonstrated with this pregnancy pact. No amount of sex education or birth control would have prevented at least 9 of these pregnancies, but the first response from the Left…more money….more education….more birth control! How about more discipline, a stronger sense of responsibility, and no public funds used to support any of the girls involved in the pact. They made their “choice,” and they can live with the consequences.

Obama To Appoint Piglet Secretary of Defense

Richard Danzig, former Under Secretary of the Navy under Bill Clinton (and the presumptive choice to serve as National Security Advisor under Obama) revealed during an interview that Obama’s security strategy would be based on the lessons learned from that noted diplomat, Winnie the Pooh:

The 100 Acres Diplomacy Plan

Brilliant! The fate of the Western World will rest in the hands of a security philosophy based on a factious bear, whose best friends are a stuttering pig, a depressed donkey, a mean-spirited rabbit, and a bouncing tiger (sorry…two g’s).

Danzig went on to compare European soccer hooligans with terrorist, and terrorist to Luke Skywalker. Obama wasn’t kidding when he said “Change,” I just don’t know if it is “Change We Can Believe In!”

Once again very little was mentioned about this story in the mainstream media in the United States. But the story is front page fonder all around the globe. Not sure Winnie the Pooh is going to help us “regain our place in the world.” Besides most Europeans prefer Paddington the Bear, who unfortunately is unavailable due to immigration “issues (Paddington the Illegal Immigrant Bear).”

Why To Vote Democratic

I recently came upon an article on Townhall.com written by Ben Shapiro. It is a satirical look at reasons why one might vote Democratic. I also found the comments related to the article humorous as well, and included my favorite at the end of this post. Enjoy.

Why I am voting Democrat
By Ben Shapiro

A new video on YouTube is taking the Internet by storm. Entitled "I'm Voting Republican," the satirical clip depicts actors playing conservative Americans of all shapes and sizes explaining why they would vote for the GOP.

"Arnold Jones" says he's voting Republican because "all other countries are inferior to us" -- and his wife, "Trudy Jones," adds, "and we should start as many wars as we need to keep it that way." A soldier in Iraq states that he's voting Republican "so I can stay in Iraq" -- and a young boy, labeled "future draftee," points a fake gun at the camera and smiles while saying "so I can go to Iran!"
A black couple says they're voting Republican because they "like a conservative majority on the Supreme Court," with the wife noting, "we really like knowing that even if we're separate, we'll still be called equal."

This insulting nonsense is precisely what liberals think of conservatives: We're all warmongers, racists, environmental rapists and secret emissaries of big corporations. We're going to reinstitute the draft, start a war with Canada and then relocate African-Americans to Quebec.

This sort of tripe should be dismissed out of hand. In the spirit of evenhandedness and fair play, however, I feel it my duty to explain why I'm going to vote Democrat.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that the best strategy in war is defeat. It broadens the mind to learn Japanese, German and Arabic. Talk about multiculturalism!

I'm voting Democrat because I'm mad that George W. Bush hasn't caught Bin Laden. That's because Bin Laden is the only Islamic terrorist in the world.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe that if I don't have enough money, the solution is for the government to take more of my money. Who needs money when gas is $5 per gallon?

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that the ideal family is two homosexual bonobos, a goat and a parrot raising a human baby. Love and compassion is all it takes to make a successful family!

I'm voting Democrat because it's my body, and if I want to kill my baby, I'll do it, even if its head is in the birth canal. If I want to cut out my intestines and feed them to the crocodiles, I'll do that too. That's the freedom our forefathers enshrined in the Constitution.

I'm voting Democrat because our enemies on the battlefield deserve comfy hotel rooms, Pay-Per-View, prostitutes and all the benefits of American citizenship.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe we need other countries' permission for me to turn down my thermostat.

I'm voting Democrat because I care about the real victims of crime -- criminals.

I'm voting Democrat because the real cure for racism includes preferential policies based on race -- particularly in presidential voting. If you believe that a black candidate ought to be qualified, as well as black, you're worse than Bull Conner.

I'm voting Democrat because everyone deserves crappy healthcare. Sure, you'll have to wait years for that life-saving cancer surgery. But it's first come, first served at the cemetery!

I'm voting Democrat because I believe in minority rights (except in Muslim countries), free speech (with regard to pornography but not conservative talk radio), environmentalism (unless we're talking about Al Gore's house) and diplomacy (but never backed by the threat of military force).

I'm voting Democrat because I like the words "hope" and "change." Also "kazoo." That's a funny word.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that America's founders were rich, white, greedy xenophobes, and that America's founding principles are hogwash requiring periodic editing from an unelected group of liberal judges.

Most of all, I'm voting Democrat because I like the ideas they have over in France, but I don't feel like moving there. I'll threaten to move, but I really won't. After all, I have a good job, healthcare, lower taxes, free speech and a social framework that promotes family structure. And all of it is defended by the most effective fighting force on the planet.

If only the institution of far-left values resulted in a great country. Oh, well. That won't stop me from voting Democrat, though. After all, I'm voting Democrat because thought isn't one of my strong suits.

Ibelieve that the same teacher who can't teach 4th graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

I believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese Communists.

I believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.

I am against capital punishment of known murderers, but in favor of abortion-on-demand of unborn innocents.

I believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.I believe that the military, not corrupt politicians, start wars.

I believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

I believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides aren't.

I believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected and manger scenes and Christmas Carols at Christmas should be illegal.

PS. take heart America, in 1980, Polls had Reagan behind by about 12 points just a couple months before the election...

Don’t Vote For Those Evil Republicans

Proving that tolerance is subject to their own narrow views, Democrats have released a “humorous” video on the “merits” of voting Republican. It is a sardonic parody of “evil” Republicans. I found it funny because of the lunacy that is found in the videos fallacy.

The video shows actors portraying Republicans as uncaring, misogynistic, homophobic, and fascist. Of course it is all done in “jest,” although it is exactly how many Leftist see Republicans, particularly Conservatives.

What the video really shows is that Democrats continue to use propaganda to perpetrate their version of a mythical beast that does not exist, the Evil Conservative. Like many political movements that lack values that are embraced by a moral society, the Democrats seek power for powers sake. To achieve this power, you must point to an evil that can be considered a common enemy of the “meek and poor,” even if you have to invent that evil.

Point for point, when you take an unbiased, honest look at Conservative principles, they will beat Socialist ideals every time…..hands down. So in the “fairness” of tolerance, allow me to share with you the voice of the “enlightened.”

Tolerance, Obama Style

Two Muslim women were barred from sitting behind Barack Obama's podium at his rally on June 16, 2008, in Detroit. The “campaign has apologized,” but the women feel betrayed by Obama’s message:

USA Today: Obama Campaign Bans Headscarf’s

One of the offended, Ms. Aref was not satisfied:

"I think this is a much bigger deal than maybe they're perceiving it as," Aref told Politico (the originate source of the story). "An apology from him personally would be better," she said. "If they are true to their word, I think it would suffice to have an invitation to their next rally and have seats behind him and show up on TV."

Spell it with me “H-y-p-o-c-r-i-s-y”

Side Note:

  1. Good-luck trying finding this story beyond only a few outlets.

  2. If you read further into the USA Today report, you will see comments from some “Obama apologist.” Some of these comments claim that, had these women appeared in the backdrop, some evil Republicans (Hannity, Limbaugh) would have twisted and distorted the presence of the women. Typical …blame the Republicans for the prejudice of the Obama campaign workers.

President Bush: Drill Here, Drill Now!

In what could be a defining issue of the 2008 elections, President Bush has asked Congress to get behind a proposal to allow off-shore drilling, but the proposal does not go far enough. We need to also open Anwar, which would free America from foreign oil dependency:

This plan should have been initiated more than 20 years ago, but due to the ignorance of the Democratic Party (bowing to environmentalist terrorist), and the lack of fortitude on the part of some Republicans, it has taken a crisis for us to do the right thing, which most American’s support:

Pundits will point to the fact that this will not relieve oil concerns now, well guess what, neither will alternative fuel options (which are not guaranteed technologies!). We cannot delay any further, and need to start aggressively pursuing oil were we know it is, encourage energy efficiency through technology, and sound alternative energy sources to avert further dependencies from beyond our borders.

Pelosi Promised Me Cheaper Gas

No one person is to blame for our current energy prices, we are all in this mess together. However the Democratic strategy once again seems to be blame George Bush and big oil. God forgive they would ever take ownership for their mistake and try and solve the problem sensibly. But there is a one person amongst us that promised us salvation….Nancy Pelosi.

In 2006, leading up to the elections, Nancy Pelosi promised all Americans that the Democrats would get us out of this mess (Nancy Pelosi Press Release - April 2006). Ms. Pelosi reminded us that, at the time of her press release, gas had risen by .90 cents since President Bush took office, and a barrel of oil cost $70.00. Well guess what, gas has risen $1.50 a gallon, and $150.00 a barrel, since the Democrats took control of Congress, with prices expected to go higher.

Well Ms. Pelosi, we're waiting!

Reap What We Sow: Farm Bill 2419

The Senate passed a new farm bill, a mammoth $289 billion proposal that President Bush has stated he will veto. The Senate vote easily reached the two-thirds of votes needed to override a veto (77-to-15).

Scott Stanzel, White House spokesman, regarding the Farm Bill, stating “it is just as bad for American taxpayers." President Bush already signaled his intention to veto the bill if it appeared before him, but that may mean very little.

The farm bill is being portrayed as a bill that would help the little guy, the family farmer. This bill does very little for the small farmer, and does not help those farmers that grow vegetables, fruits, and livestock.

As crop prices soar, American farm incomes are achieving record highs. Since 2002, key crop prices have grown as much as 281 percent, and total farm income has more than doubled. The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that net farm income will reach a record $92.3 billion in 2008--a 56 percent increase over 2006. The $89,434 average household income for farmers significantly exceeds the national average. Additionally, crop land values soared another 14 percent last year, bringing them to double their 2000 levels. Large farming operations are now wealthier than ever, and the 2008 Farm Bill does very little to help the struggling farmer.

Key Points Why This Farm Bill Should Be Vetoed:

  • The true intend of any farm subsidies should be to raise farmer incomes by making up for low crop prices. Instead, subsidies encourage overproduction, which will in turn lower prices even more. Costly programs to limit plantings are then implemented to help raise crop prices again. Any ethanol mandates will raise prices further.
  • Farm subsidies should be designed to help struggling family farmers. Instead, they harm those farmers by excluding them from most subsidies; financing the consolidation of small, individually owned farms into business conglomerates; and raising land values to levels that prevent young people from entering farming.
  • The desired affect of farm subsidies is to alleviate farmer poverty, but the majority of subsidies go to commercial farms, which report an average income of $200,000 and a net worth of nearly $2 million.
  • Historically 90 percent of all subsidies go to growers of just five crops (wheat, cotton, corn, soybeans, and rice). Farm subsidies are supposedly needed to keep farmers afloat, yet Farms producing the majority of farm products (including fruits, vegetables, beef, and poultry) survive without subsidies.
  • Farm subsidies cost Americans billions of dollars each year in higher taxes and higher food costs.

I am for the small family farmer, but the Farm Bill of 2008 does very little to help those truly in need. But you are somehow labeled anti-farm if you oppose this bill. To be in opposition to this bill is to be anti-waste. The current farm bill should be scrapped, and a new bill that represents the needs of the struggling farmer, and the current food world crisis should be pursued.

Are British Soldiers Wimps?

Former male prostitute and Madonna gal pal Rupert Everett is feeling the heat over disparaging comments he made about British soldiers:

Rupert Everett - No Room In The Foxhole

The actual quote was “pathetic, whining wimps.” Statements such as “The whole point of being in the Army is wanting to get killed…” plays into the belief by many that all soldiers are warmongers, and shows a complete lack of understanding for those that serve.

As a former soldier, and having served with British soldiers, I have never meet anyone who wanted to “get killed” as Everett has suggested. It is counter to everything we as soldiers are taught. To win by defeating the enemy is what soldiers are trained to do. No army would be very successful if it soldiers wanted to get killed, that's just ridiculous!

Of course this wasn’t the only thing Rupert Everett had to say, also taking the time to criticize Americans as well.

Everett described us as "whiny victims" whose entire language is taken from US TV series Friends and Sex And The City. Everett stated that "I'm totally off the States now. The reaction to 9/11 and then George Bush - really, they've got very blobby as a nation." Blobby....ouch, that hurts.

Everett - "I'm totally off the States now."

I could careless what someone like Everett thinks of America. But, Mr. Everett’s callous comments directed at the British military comes from a place of contempt that many elitist have for those that serve their country. Mr. Everett lives in a world where at the end of the day he wipes off his makeup and goes bar-hopping with friends. Everett is an idiot and owes his fellow countryman an apology.

Israel Sees Iran For What It Is: A Threat

An Israeli daily newspaper reported that Israeli Cabinet Minister Shaul Mofaz has said Israel should attack Iran if it continues with its nuclear program.

Attack On Iran May Be Unavoidable

It is important to remember that the Iranian born Mofaz was responding to calls from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, that Israel to be wiped off the map.

Was Mofaz justified in his comments? What should the international response be, if any? Should the US take an official position on the comments?

Hartford Hit and Run: Compassion Lost

By now all of us have heard of the horrific hit and run that occurred in Hartford, CT. This was the second shocking hit and run in the State of Connecticut, one leaving a 78 year old man paralyzed and the other killing a 11-year old girl.

The incidents have so outraged many that the Governor of Connecticut felt compelled to issue a statement:

Statement of Governor M. Jodi Rell on hit & run crashes in Hartford, New Haven
By Gov Rell's Office

Governor M. Jodi Rell today issued the following statement on the tragic hit-and-run crashes in Hartford and New Haven that have left a 78-year-old man paralyzed in Hartford and an 11-year-old girl dead in New Haven: “In recent days pedestrians have been the victims of hit-and-run crashes in both Hartford and New Haven. I am asking anyone in Connecticut who may have information that could help police to please call them right away. It is crucial that police identify the motorists who ran these innocent people down and then cravenly fled the scene. “The video of the Hartford scene is beyond chilling. There seems little question that the driver of the car that struck Angel Arce Torres on May 30 knew what happened. Yet the driver sped off, leaving his victim sprawled and motionless in the street. Almost as chilling is the reaction of some passers-by, who did little in the moments after the crash to assist Mr. Torres. “Similarly, police are still searching for the driver of a car that struck fifth-grader Gabrielle Lee on Wednesday night near the intersection of Whalley Avenue and Davis Street in New Haven. A child’s life was ended in an instant – yet no one has come forward to accept responsibility. “These incidents and others – such as the savage and inexplicable, indefensible attack on former Hartford Deputy Mayor Nick Carbone on Monday – shock our state to the core. Such violence simply will not be tolerated. Those who are responsible must be identified, prosecuted and punished. “My heart goes out to the families and friends of Mr. Torres, Mr. Carbone and Gabrielle. Again I urge anyone who may have information about these violent crimes or any others to call the police. Only by working together will we successfully identify and punish the predators who threaten our safety. “Please help bring justice to the families of Mr. Torres, Mr. Carbone and Gabrielle.”

The sense of right and wrong have not only been lost on the drivers, but on the bystanders as well. A great many in our society have lost our sense of humanity, simple compassion for our fellow man. My 13 year-old son looked at the video in horror and asked –“Why isn’t anyone helping that poor man?” My son was not satisfied with the answer – “I do not know why…”

There were plenty of people who took the time to snap video and pictures with the cell-phones, but God forbid that would reach out and help! What goes through a persons mind when they decide to ignore the suffering of a person right there in front of them?

Is this just another example of how human life has been devalued? Should these bystanders be charged with a crime? Would you have acted the same, or intervened? What do you think your child would have done if confronted with this situation?

June 6th, 1944 - Remembering D-Day

There are dates that without hesitation are etched into the soul of our Nation. July 4th, April 12th, December 7th, September 11th, are all part of what defines the United States of America. June 6th, D-Day, is another one of those dates.

What exactly was at stake with the actions of June 6th? Simple soldiers tasked with freeing an entire continent from the grips of a madman…that’s all. Two great men expressed the full weight of the day, and with far more elegance than I, General Eisenhower and President Ronald Reagan.

General Eisenhower Letter to the Allied Forces:

Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward

which we have striven these many months. The eyes of

the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty loving

people everywhere march with you. In company with

our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts,

you will bring about the destruction of the German war

machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed

peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free

world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is

well trained, well equipped and battle-hardened.

He will fight savagely.

But this is the year I944 ! Much has happened since the

Nazi triumphs of I940-4I. The United Nations have inflicted

upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle,

man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced

their strength in the air and their capacity to wage

overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of

war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained

fighting men. The tide has turned ! The free men of

the world are marching together to Victory !

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to

duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less

than full Victory !

Good Luck ! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty

God upon this great and noble undertaking.

Dwight D. Eisenhower

President Reagan 60th Anniversary Speech:
