The Road To Socialism Is Paved With Good Intentions


On November 4, we will be deciding which path America should take. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves, from time to time, that "We the People…" are the government. It is easy to succumb to the allure of Socialism, because somehow Americans feel that we can "control" it, mold it into an American image. It is not possible. Whether we call it Progressive, Liberal, Socialism, it is still Communism. Socialism requires that free men voluntarily give up their liberty, not all at once, but slowly and surely, Socialism demands we turn more control of our daily lives to a secluded power. A government that can give us everything can take everything away.

In the words of Ronald Reagan, "..this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power
except to sovereign people, is still the newest and most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man. This is the issue of this election. Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves."

Which path should we take, Socialism or Self-government? One simply needs to read the quotes below to see where each path leads:

We do not have the luxury of believing that the threat of Socialism is an exaggeration. With each election we seem more willing to surrender our destiny into the hands of bureaucrats; and each election they eagerly accept a greater control over the People they were meant to serve. Is it possible we are witnessing the fulfillment of predictions by Khrushchev and Thomas? I pray Americans are smarter than that.

This is a great blog! Some amazing (and chilling) quotes. The enemy is within our gates now! More than ever, we need to read the words of the great conservative thinkers and philosophers, not the least of whom is Reagan himself. We need to batten down the hatches and get ready for an unprecedented battle of diametrically opposed ideologies.
