The Berkeley City Council will vote tonight (2/12/2008) on whether to rescind their original request asking the Marines to vacate the city. But this time there will be a group of protesters there in support of the Marines. I will be curious to see how tolerant the fine citizens of Berkeley are when the speech is counter to their beliefs. It is typically of “peace activist” to resort to force, intimidation and in this case to using kids (the fine, upstanding skateboarders) to bully the counter protesters. As I reported last week, the police have been negligent in their lack of action, to the point that the only way they were going to “calm” the situation down was to use police in riot gear. The Berkeley Police allowed Code Pink, and other Anti-American protesters, to run amok during the early stages, and that only served to embolden them.
