Because every speech that President Obama gives seems to fall into the category of historic, courageous, and compassionate (according to the media), why should we not be surprised that all three words were used to describe President Obama’s speech at Notre Dame’s 2009 Commencement.
But let us forgot for the moment the fact that the speech was just another example of lip services, empty of commitment and devoid of integrity, and focus on something that did not happen this weekend, the bestowing of the prestigious Laetare Medal upon Dr. Mary Ann Glendon:

So the media was right when they described the events at Notre Dame as historic, courageous, and compassionate; however the media was referring to the wrong person.
